Peter D Posted March 5, 2018 Posted March 5, 2018 Hello We are travelling to Japan very shortly (in 2 weeks) for a wedding on Kobe Island and then staying in Osaka for a few days before heading off to Tokyo. My question is do we try and purchase a bullet train ticket now or simply wait until we are there and buy one on the day of travel? As this will be the only train trip purchasing a rail pass is not viable. Thank you in anticipation. Peter Quote
Japan Station Posted March 5, 2018 Posted March 5, 2018 Shinkansen (bullet train) services between Shin-Osaka and Tokyo are very frequent (every 10-15 minutes). You will have no problem buying a ticket on the day of travel or a few days in advance after your arrival in Japan. You will find more information about buying shinkansen tickets on this page: https://www.osakastation.com/buying-shinkansen-tickets-at-shin-osaka-station/ Please note that you can buy shinkansen tickets at any JR ticket office in Japan, not only Shin-Osaka station. Peter D Posted March 5, 2018 Author Posted March 5, 2018 Thank you very much for your quick response and we will take your suggestion of purchasing the tickets a couple of days before travel. Kind regards Peter Quote
