Shinkansen from Utsunomiya to Sapporo

Hi,

Are we able to board on Shinkansen from Utsunomiya station bound for Sapporo on Japan rail pass?

Do we need to change trains? If yes at where?

How long would the whole trip take?

Hi Fred,

The nationwide Japan Rail Pass can be used from Utsunomiya to Sapporo.

You will need to change the trains twice:

SHINKANSEN YAMABIKO (Utsunomiya to Sendai)

SHINKANSEN HAYABUSA (Sendai to Shin-Hakodate-Hokuto)

Limited Express HOKUTO or SUPER HOKUTO (Shin-Hakodate-Hokuto to Sapporo)

The whole trip will take around 8 hours.
