aucklander Posted April 25, 2016 Share Posted April 25, 2016 Hi, we will arrive in Kyoto (by Shinkansen from Tokyo) sometime in the afternoon, let's say on a Tuesday at around 17:00. We will spend 2 nights in Kyoto, leaving back to Tokyo on Thursday afternoon (will visit Nara that morning then head back to Tokyo). I am looking at buying a 2-day pass for the bus and subway in Kyoto (Y2000). If I buy the 2-day pass on Tuesday at 17:00, when does it expire? Is it going still to be valid on Thursday morning? Or is it valid for Tuesday and Thursday only (until midnight) and on Thursday morning we need to get tickets? For the rest of the trip I will have a JR pass, that is sorted out. Thank you. Michael Lambe Posted April 25, 2016 Share Posted April 25, 2016 Hi there, If you start using the 2-day pass on the Tuesday then it will be valid until the last train or bus service of Wednesday night (even if the last service is after midnight). When you buy it though, you can say that you want to start using the pass from the following day and then start using it on Wednesday. It would then be valid until the last service on Thursday night.
