    Also: is it possible to book online in advance for tickets on a Special Rapid Service train which does not have reserved seating? Or must we simply buy tickets at the station that day before the train arrives?

    We are a couple who will travel from Kyoto Station to Osaka Station on Monday 8 January. We plan to book the Special Rapid Service train, but are unsure whether it has space for our suitcases (1 suitcase each - they are average size suitcases). Is there somewhere on Special Rapid Service trains for us to put our cases? Thank you! Andrew
