MrTreasureHunter Posted October 30 Posted October 30 I am planning a one-week trip to Japan next March and am in the process of finalizing my itinerary. I am uncertain whether it would be more advisable to fly into Haneda Airport or Narita Airport. Could you please offer your opinion on which airport would be the better choice for my journey? Thank you. Quote
Elizabeth Green Posted October 30 Posted October 30 For your week-long trip to Japan, flying into Haneda Airport would be a wise choice due to its close proximity to central Tokyo. Being located within the city limits, Haneda offers a shorter and more convenient commute to popular districts like Shinjuku, Shibuya, and Tokyo Station. This means you’ll spend less time traveling from the airport to your accommodation, giving you more time to enjoy your trip. If convenience and minimizing travel time are priorities for you, I'd recommend Haneda. Quote
akdrv Posted October 30 Posted October 30 Hey there! I’d say your choice might depend on the specific areas you plan to visit during your trip. If you’re looking to explore eastern Tokyo, nearby prefectures, or attractions like Nikko and Karuizawa, I’d recommend flying into Narita Airport. It’s more convenient for those regions because of its solid transportation links to Tokyo Station and Ueno. On the flip side, if you’re planning to spend most of your time in southern Tokyo or cities like Yokohama, then Haneda Airport would be your best bet. It’s closer to those areas and offers better connections, which can save you time and hassle. Aligning your airport choice with your itinerary can really enhance your trip and make it more enjoyable. Hope this helps, and have an amazing time in Japan! Quote
Maria Fukuda Posted October 30 Posted October 30 If comfort during your commute from the airport is a priority, and your accommodation is near areas like Ueno or Tokyo Station, Narita Airport might be the better option. Narita offers direct transportation services like the Narita Express and Keisei Skyliner, which provide comfortable, reserved seating and ample luggage space straight into central Tokyo. Narita Express goes directly to Tokyo Station, Shinagawa, Shibuya, Shinjuku, Ikebukuro, Yokohama. Keisei Skyliner goes directly to Nippori (Yamanote Line) and Ueno (near Asakusa). This can be more convenient than navigating multiple transfers and crowded trains from Haneda, even though Haneda is geographically closer. So if your destination aligns with the direct routes offered from Narita, it could make your journey smoother. Quote
MisoMiles Posted October 30 Posted October 30 If your flight arrives late at night, Haneda may be a better option, as transportation from Narita can be limited at night, potentially requiring costly alternatives like taxis or private transfers. However, there are many hotels near both airports, so you can always stay near the airport for the first night and begin exploring in the morning. Quote
