eiko Posted April 14, 2018 Share Posted April 14, 2018 My daughter will be traveling from the Hakodate Line to Shin Hakodate Hokuto in August. From there she will be catching the Shinkansen to Narita Airport in Tokyo. She will be traveling with a backpack, a standard carry-on size piece of luggage and a large, 28" piece of luggage. Is there paid/unpaid storage areas on these trains? Will she be turned away? I don't know how else she will be able to get her luggage from Hakodate to Narita. Any advice would be appreciated. Japan Station Posted April 15, 2018 Share Posted April 15, 2018 Narita Express train cars have dedicated luggage space for large suitcases. Shinkansen trains running between Hokkaido and Tokyo have overhead storage shelves, and extra space behind the last seat for over-sized luggage. You just need to inform a staff member that you'd like to place luggage there. The local train from Hakodate to Shin-Hakodate-Hokuto is rarely busy and should be ok to carry a large suitcase for a short ride. Alternatively, you can send the large suitcase directly to Narita Airport via overnight delivery. The hotel staff can help you with the paperwork. Please verify the delivery time beforehand.
