  1. There is a new Express Fuji Excursion train that runs directly from Shinjuku to Kawaguchiko, but only in the morning (8:30 am and 9:30 am on weekdays, 7:35, 8:30 am and 9:30 am on weekends)

You can find the schedule (including other connecting trains) for your travel dates on Hyperdia: http://www.hyperdia.com/cgi/en/search.html?dep_node=SHINJUKU(JR)&arv_node=KAWAGUCHIKO&via_node01=&via_node02=&via_node03=&year=2019&month=06&day=05&hour=08&minute=00&search_type=0&search_way=&transtime=undefined&sort=0&max_route=5&faretype=0&ship=off&regular=off&lmlimit=null&search_target=route&facility=reserved&sum_target=7

There is also a direct bus from Shunjuku to Kawaguchiko: https://highway-buses.jp/course/kawaguchiko.php

  2. You can use an ICOCA card on all the services you mentioned, except Limited Express.

Limited Express requires additional seat reservation charge. All other services have non-reserved seats.

Traveling from Osaka Namba Station, a Rapid Express train on the Kintetsu Nara Line will get you to Kintetsu Nara Station in 39 minutes for 560 yen.

Limited Express services also run between Osaka Namba Station and Kintetsu Nara Station and take just 34 minutes, but they cost considerably more at 1,070 yen.

We wish to do the reverse (Kyoto to Hakata), is it possible to book one through ticket, or will we need to make 2 separate bookings?  How long should I leave between arriving at Shin-Osaka and departing from there for Hakata?  Thanks

There are some Nozomi shinkansen services that go from Kyoto to Hakata. Please note that Nozomi is not covered by the Japan Rail Pass.

If you do not plan to use the Japan Rail Pass you can take Nozomi all the way to Hakata without any transfers.

If you do plan to use the Japan Rail Pass you will need to take Hikari from Kyoto to Shin-Osaka and then transfer to Sakura to continue to Hakata.

Transfers can be made in 10 minutes, but we'd recommend 20 to 30 minutes transfer time if you are not familiar with the station layout.

Visit Hyperdia for the train schedules on your travel date and time to find the direct Nozomi services.

Hi, is the luggage storage room in Shin Osaka Station still operating? Any changes in opening time and fee?

    Thanks!

Yes, the baggage room is still operating with the same opening time and fees.

  5. Online reservations from Hakata to Kyoto are not available. You can make reservations at any JR ticket office after your arrival in Japan. Trains on this route run frequently and tickets are usually available on the day of travel. We recommend making reservations a day or two in advance.

  6. Nankai Airport Express is a commuter train with seating similar to a subway car. There is no dedicated luggage space, but you will find that a lot of people with luggage take this train. You will have no problem taking your luggage on the Nankai Airport Express.

Tickets can be bought at the airport station.

You can find more information about the Express service and the Rapi:t service (with reserved seats and dedicated luggage space) on this page: https://www.osakastation.com/the-nankai-airport-line-the-airport-express-rapit-services-for-kansai-airport-namba/

  7. Please note that Hotel Sunroute Plaza Shinjuku is located near Shinjuku Station, not Shibuya.

From Shinagawa Station take the Yamanote line to Shinjuku Station, then follow the signs to the New South Exit.

Could you please confirm if this Kanku Webtoku discount ticket allow me to get on from Tengachaya station?

Please note that Kanku Webtoku voucher can only be exchanged at Nankai Namba Station Service Center (2F).

You cannot exchange the voucher for a ticket at Namba station (3F) and other stations such as Shin-imamiya sta. Tengachaya sta. and so on.

After the voucher is exchanged for a ticket you can take the actual train from any station, including Tengachaya.

    Thank you for the reply.

However, can I stay on the train all the way to Asakusa if I use the Keikyu line ticket from Haneda to Sengakuji and have the Tokyo Subway pass or must I get out at Sengakuji and then get back in again using the Subway pass?

If you use separate tickets then you will need to exit ticket gates at Sengakuji and re-enter with Tokyo Subway pass.

If you buy the special Weclome Tokyo subway pass you can stay on the train all the way to Asakusa.

  10. It is not possible to make a reservation without an actual activated JR Pass and the person who's name is on the pass.

It is possible to buy tickets at a ticket counter in advance with cash. You will not get your money back with a JR Pass.

The last Shinkansen train of the day from Shin-Osaka to Tokyo depart around 8:30pm.

Another alternative is to spend the night in Osaka and take a Shinkansen train to Tokyo in the morning. The first train departs around 6am.
