  1. Yes, with a JR Pass you can travel free of charge on all JR lines.
  2. There are lots of food shops in the terminal area, but they are not near the station. You will have to go to the departures area. It's accessible for arriving passengers (before check-in).
  3. Hi Peggy, With a JR Hokkaido Pass you can reserve seats when you arrive at the JR station right at the New Chitose Airport. When you arrive at Sapporo station you can go directly to the other train, no need to exit the ticket gates. You can see the arrival and departure platform numbers on Hyperdia, but it's also a good idea to confirm the display at the platform when you arrive in Sapporo. http://www.hyperdia.com/cgi/en/search.html?dep_node=NEW CHITOSE AIRPORT&arv_node=ASAHIKAWA&via_node01=&via_node02=&via_node03=&year=2017&month=05&day=04&hour=10&minute=14&search_type=0&search_way=&transtime=undefined&sort=0&max_route=5&faretype=0&ship=off&lmlimit=null&search_target=route&facility=reserved&sum_target=7 Have a good trip!
  4. Hi Fred, The nationwide Japan Rail Pass can be used from Utsunomiya to Sapporo. You will need to change the trains twice: SHINKANSEN YAMABIKO (Utsunomiya to Sendai) SHINKANSEN HAYABUSA (Sendai to Shin-Hakodate-Hokuto) Limited Express HOKUTO or SUPER HOKUTO (Shin-Hakodate-Hokuto to Sapporo) The whole trip will take around 8 hours. You can see the details on Hyperdia: http://www.hyperdia.com/cgi/en/search.html?dep_node=UTSUNOMIYA&arv_node=SAPPORO(JR)&via_node01=&via_node02=&via_node03=&year=2017&month=06&day=11&hour=09&minute=00&search_type=0&search_way=&transtime=undefined&sort=0&max_route=5&faretype=0&airplane=off&ship=off&lmlimit=null&search_target=route&facility=reserved&sum_target=7
  5. There are many areas with lockers and a left luggage office in Shibuya station. Check this article for details: https://en.kikou.io/entries/164 Romancecar from Hakone goes to Shinjuku station. You will need to take another train from Shinjuku to Shibuya.
  6. Sunroute Plaza Hotel Shinjuku is within walking distance from Shinjuku station (around 3-5 minutes). You can find directions on the hotel website: http://en.sunrouteplazashinjuku.jp/en/location.html If you have a lot of luggage and prefer to take a taxi, the taxi stand is on the 3rd floor at the New South Exit (Expressway Bus Terminal) or ground floor at other exits. Ask at any information counter to point you to the closest taxi stand.
  7. You certainly can direct your taxi driver to the New South Exit (NEWoMan building). After ticket gates there is an elevator that takes you directly to Narita Express platform.
  8. South Exit is located on the north side of Koshu-kaido Street. New South exit is located on the south side of Koshu-kaido Street. If you are coming from Shinjuku Station you can take either exit form underground. If you are coming from somewhere else you can just cross the street aboveground.
  9. Yes, you are able to take your luggage on the train.
  10. Unfortunately, you cannot reserve seats prior to your arrival. Trains on this route run every few hours. You should have no problem reserving seats when you arrive. You can check the departure times here: http://www.hyperdia.com/cgi/en/search.html?dep_node=NEW CHITOSE AIRPORT&arv_node=KUTCHAN&via_node01=&via_node02=&via_node03=&year=2017&month=02&day=06&hour=10&minute=24&search_type=0&search_way=&transtime=undefined&sort=0&max_route=10&faretype=0&ship=off&lmlimit=null&search_target=route&facility=reserved&sum_target=7 There is also a luggage delivery service at the airport that will send your luggage directly to your hotel. Ask at the airport information counter.
  11. Unfortunately, we cannot assist you in delivering your backpack. We suggest that you ask someone who speaks Japanese to contact JR Hokkaido: Please contact <JR Hokkaido> Phone: 011-222-6130(9:00-17:00)
  12. Hi Eva, 10 minutes should be enough to transfer from Shinkansen to Super Hokuto if you go directly to departure platform. Shin-Hakodate-Hokuto station is not difficult to navigate and transfers are very straightforward. Follow the signs "Transfer for JR Line" and check departure board for the track number. You can see what the station looks like here: https://www.hakodatestation.com/shin-hakodate-hokuto-station/ It's a good idea to make seat reservations for the limited express train at the same time when you book your shinkansen seats.
  13. Hi Raymond, 1. The stations usually open about 30 minutes before the first train. Reservations can be made anytime after you activate your rail pass. Making a reservation the night before is probably a good idea. 2. In Tokyo you can use a JR Pass on any JR lines (not subway or other private lines). There is a map of all JR lines in Tokyo in this article: https://www.japanstation.com/japan-rail-pass-discounted-travel-on-japan-railways/ To use your Japan Rail Pass, simply present it to JR staff at ticket gates. Do not go through automatic gates, go to the manned counter.
  14. If you are still in Osaka you can visit lost and found office at Osaka station: https://www.osakastation.com/osaka-station-city-facilities/ Contact number: JR West Lost and Found in Osaka (Japanese language only) 0570-00-2486 or 078-382-8686
  15. Hi Wee Seng, We are not JR rail, but we'll try point to you in the right direction. Your best bet in recovering your glasses is to ask someone who speaks Japanese (a hotel concierge perhaps) to call JR Hokkaido lost and found line: 011-222-6130 More information here: http://www.jrhokkaido.co.jp/network/lostarticle/
  16. Hi Fenny, You can make seat reservations as soon as you activate your JR Pass. Reservations can be made at any JR ticket office at any station. Because you are traveling around the holiday season it may be a good idea to make reservations early on in your trip.
  17. Hi Maria, After the shinkansen line to Hokkaido opened earlier this year the overnight train has stopped operating. If you are arriving this late it's probably best to stay overnight at the airport or in Tokyo. Next morning take the shinkansen train from Tokyo to Shin-Hakodate-Hokuto. Hakodate is a charming city and a good location for a stop-over. The next day you can take an express train from Hakodate to Sapporo. You can use the nationwide JR pass on all these routes: Tokyo - Hakodate - Sapporo and return. From Tokyo to Shin-Hokodate-Hokuto is around 4 hours on shinkansen + 20 minutes local train to Hakodate. From Hakodate to Sapporo is about 3 hours and 30 minutes by express train. https://www.sapporostation.com/hokkaido-shinkansen-traveling-from-tokyo-to-sapporo/
  18. If you will be coming from JR Shinjuku underground follow the signs to New South Gate. If you end up aboveground from Toei subway exit follow these directions to the bus terminal: https://goo.gl/maps/GDcLzrr1KXk
  19. According to Hyperdia the last direct train from Kansai Airport to Kyobashi departs at 23:09 and arrives at 00:22. The fare is ¥ 1,190. http://www.hyperdia.com/cgi/en/search.html?dep_node=KANSAI AIRPORT&arv_node=KYOBASHI(OSAKA)&via_node01=&via_node02=&via_node03=&year=2016&month=08&day=31&hour=23&minute=00&search_type=0&search_way=&transtime=undefined&sort=0&max_route=5&faretype=0&ship=off&lmlimit=null&search_target=route&facility=reserved&sum_target=7
  20. Hi Joe, Yes, the ticket office will be open on August 11th. It is open every day, including public holidays. You can also buy a Shinkansen ticket in advance at any other station, including Narita and Haneda airports.
  21. We don't see any reason why you can't buy the ticket twice.
  22. This ticket is for domestic and international visitors, not local Tokyo residents, so there are some restrictions on where it's sold. The condition that you mentioned is only applied at one location. You don't need to be a shinkansen passenger to buy this ticket at other locations. Other locations may have other conditions that are listed on the official page. For example, at travel agencies the ticket is only sold together with other travel products (transportation, accommodation, travel packages, etc.) for Tokyo.
  23. The first train departure from Osaka Station is at 5 am.
  24. Hi Lena The first train from Hakodate to New Chitose Airport departs at 6:10 am and arrives at the airport at 9:27 am (with a connection at Minami-Chitose). This gives you one hour before your flight. If you are departing on a domestic flight it may be enough, but it's a bit tight. You may want to consider going to the airport the night before and staying at the Airport Terminal Hotel.
  25. There is an overnight bus from Hakodate -> Shin Hakodate Hokuto -> Sapporo. http://www.hokto.co.jp/b_hako.htm
